Hot springs, a waterfall and a boatride to boot!

Here are some pictures from Wulai, a small town about 45 minutes south of Taipei city that is renowned for its odorless hot springs. Reaching Wulai can involve an easy and picturesque drive from Taipei, up and through some lovely mountain country. Once in Wulai, finding a hotsprings hotel is very easy. There is a wide range of choices in terms of price, size, degree of modernity and cleanliness. The nice thing is that one can simply drive up to any establishment and ask the staff for pricing and to let you preview their available rooms. We stayed at a lovely hotsprings hotel for about $150 USD which included a room with a queen bed and two single beds and a private, large hotspring tub, as well as a freshly prepared 5 course vegetarian dinner on the night of our arrival and an adquate breakfast buffet the next morning.

In Wulai, the main attraction is a pretty waterfall, the top of which can be reached by a steeply climbing cable car! Once at the top of the falls, there is an old style amusement park with boat rides, kiddie rides, and lovely trails- a must for any family with young kids. The park is creatively set in the midst of the mountains, and the scenery itself, apart from the fun rides, is reason enough to make the trip!
